DARKROOM PHOTOGRAPHY
Grades 9-12
1 One-week session
Offered Session 1
June 22-26; 9 a.m. – noon
Step into the fascinating world of film at Summer@WMA with our Darkroom Photography Camp! Campers will explore classic photographic techniques in our fully equipped darkroom, learning the foundations of pinhole photography, camera-less imagery and photograms before moving on to traditional Single Lens Reflex (SLR) cameras.
Working with film encourages students to think critically about cause and effect, anticipate results and problem-solve in real time, all while blending art, physics and math. Campers develop technical skills in exposure, composition and developing prints, gaining a deeper understanding of photography beyond the digital world.
Guided by the experience of WMA’s Chair of the Fine & Performing Arts Department Mr. Paul Bloomfield, students create original works of art while mastering the classic processes that have defined photography for generations. At Summer@WMA, Darkroom Photography combines creativity, precision, and discovery in an unforgettable hands-on experience.
